Candidates who want to become IRDAI Agents or Insurance Advisors must pass the IC-38 test, which is administered by the Insurance Institute of India on behalf of IRDAI.

The IC-38 course modules include:

Overview of Insurance

discovering life insurance

Knowledge of Health Insurance

General Insurance Overview

Multiple-choice or multiple-response questions make up the exam format.

The exam must be finished in 1 hour and 50 minutes by the candidates. Candidates will be given some extra grace if there is a technical error or another problem.

This exam consists of 50 questions in total.

To pass the test, candidates must receive a score of at least 35%.

The IC-38 test is given in English and all Major Indian Regional Language

The IC-38 certification is valid for three years.

  • The IRDAI Regulations 2000 state that passing the 12th standard is the prerequisite for candidates.

  • If the candidate lives in a community with fewer than 5000 people, they must have completed the 10th grade.

To work as a Life/General Insurance agent, candidates must have completed 50 hours of training at a facility that has been approved by the IRDAI. To qualify for a licence for the first time, applicants must complete 75 hours of training.

No points are deducted for wrong responses.

Candidates must undergo 25 hours of practical training in order to renew their certificates; however, they are not obliged to retake the exam.
